Case Study: Tara, Montalban! - A Local Tourism and Community Hub

Discover how 'Tara, Montalban!' was developed as a central online hub to promote local tourism, businesses, and culture in Rodriguez, Rizal.
The Challenge: Unifying a Town's Digital Presence
While Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal, is rich in natural attractions and local businesses, there was no single, comprehensive online resource for tourists and residents. Information was scattered across various social media groups and websites, making it difficult for visitors to discover what the town had to offer and for locals to stay informed. The challenge was to create a centralized digital platform to showcase the beauty of Montalban and support its local economy.
My Solution: A One-Stop Community and Tourism Portal
I developed "Tara, Montalban!", a community-driven tourism website that serves as the ultimate guide to the adventure capital of the Philippines. The platform is designed to be a vibrant and engaging hub for everything the town has to offer:
- Comprehensive Local Directory: A searchable directory of local businesses, from restaurants to resorts, complete with details, photos, and map locations to encourage local commerce.
- Interactive Trail Guides: Detailed guides for the town's famous hiking trails, including difficulty levels, contact information for guides, and maps to help adventurers plan their trips.
- Community-Centric Features: The site includes sections for local news, cultural events, and articles, fostering a strong sense of community and keeping residents informed. This showcases my approach to custom web design that caters to specific community needs.
- Contribution Platform: The "Contribute" feature allows locals to submit their own articles and suggestions, ensuring the website's content remains fresh, authentic, and community-driven.
Technologies Used
The website was built with a focus on performance, ease of use, and visual appeal, using a modern tech stack:
- Framework: Next.js and TypeScript for a fast, SEO-friendly, and maintainable website.
- Styling: Tailwind CSS to create a clean, modern, and fully responsive design.
- Mapping: Leaflet.js for interactive maps to guide tourists to local businesses and trailheads.
- Deployment: Vercel for fast, reliable global hosting.
This project demonstrates my ability to create community-focused platforms. If you have a similar idea for a local initiative or a full-stack web application, I would be delighted to discuss it with you.
